We encourage the submission of contributed papers related to the symposium topics. An abstract of the contribution must be submitted which will be used as basis for the decision of the Scientific Committee regarding acceptance or rejection of the contribution.

Abstract should be submitted in camera-ready form. Deadline for submission of abstract is June 9, 2003. Abstracts can be submitted by following two ways:

1. Attached-File by E-mail

Acceptable formats for the abstract are PDF, MS-Word, and plain-text. It is strongly recommended to check the virus infection on your computer before sending the abstract. The E-mail address is jkawai@cms.mtl.kyoto-u.ac.jp

One copy of the abstract should be mailed to

Before submission of abstract, you should decide the type of papers (see below), and write your selection in the E-mail (or Mail).

• e-JSSNT (original or review): an electric journal published by the Surface Science Society of Japan
• SIA (original only): a special issue of Surface and Interface Analysis
• JSPS-141 Activity Report only (will not be reviewed): an activity report of the 141st Committee on Microbeam Analysis of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science

Further information on these choises

Abstracts must be typed within a rectange of 17 cm wide by 24 cm high. The format required is one page using TIMES(NEW)ROMAN font with:

• Title (14-point BOLD) centered at the top of the page.
• Author's name(s), affiliation(s), address(es) and E-mail address of the corresponding author, centered below the title with one blank line using 12-point font. Underline the name of the author presenting the paper.
• Text should start after one blank line using 12-point font, including references and figure/table if necessary. Please use single line spacing.
• Color figures or photographs can be used, but please note that the book of abstracts will be printed in black and white.

The notification of the acceptance will be sent by E-mail to the corresponding author within 3 days. The final program of the symposium will appear on this website on July, 1.
