JTB Corp. (JTB) has been appointed as the Official Travel Agent for ALC '01/SIMS XIII and will handle all related travel arrangements including hotel accommodation.

Hotel Accommodation

JTB has reserved a sufficient number of rooms at the following hotels for participants at special discount rates. Those persons who wish to apply for hotel reservation are requested to complete the application form, and send it to JTB no later than September 25, 2001 by fax or mail with the necessary deposit (JPY 10,000 per room) for hotels coded from 1 through 6 or the total accommodation fee for hotels of No. 7 and 8.
Hotel assignment will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Note:
  1. Above rate includes service charge, tax and bread and coffee.
    And also includes hanling charge of credit company and of JTB.
  2. Who wish to apply these hotels, you should pay the total accommodation fee beforehand to JTB.
  3. If your desired hotel (Code No. 7 and 8) is already fully occupied, we will reserve for you another hotel instead.

Cancellation

If you want to cancel your hotel, a written notification should be sent directly to JTB.
The deposit will be refunded, but the following cancellation fees will be charged depending on when the notification is recieved by JTB.
Up to 9 days before the first night of stay --- JPY 1,000 per room
2-8 days before the first night of stay --- 20% of the daily room charge (minimum JPY 2,000)
One day before the first night of stay --- 50% of the daily room charge
The same day, or no notice given --- 100% of the daily room charge

The following optional tours are planned for participants and accompanying persons. Those who wish to make tour reservations may sign up at the application form.

OP-1: Nara Half-day Tour
*Minimum attendance for operation -- 25 persons
Date and Hours: November 13, 2001 (13:30 - 17:30)
Departure point: Conference site
Fare: JPY 6,500 per person

Ganko Ittetsu Nagaya
In Japanese-style houses partitioned into units, you can see the marking of traditional handicrafts as well as purchase them. These works such as "Akahada" ceramics, silk cloth mounting for calligraphy and painting, bamboo tea whisks, "Itto-bori" wooden carvings.
Jiko-in
A Zen Buddhist temple founded in 1663 by Sekishu Katagiri, a founder of Sekishu School of tea ceremony. You can enjoy a beasutiful dry-landscape garden of grand shrubbery over a bowl of powdered green tea.

OP-2: Kyoto 1-day Tour

Heian Shrine
Graceful medieval court life is reflected in this brightly colored shrine with its vermilion pillars and green roof, and enchanting inner gardens and ponds.
Sanjusangendo Hall
A renowned, long wooden hall, dating back 700 years, that houses 1,001 statues of Kannon.
Kiyomizu Temple
A quaint old lane lined with pottery shops leads to this temple.
Enjoy a sweeping view of the entire city from its lofty terrace.

OP-3: Kyoto Afternoon Tour

Places of visit:
Fushimi Inari Shrine
The "Fox shrine" at Fushimi, was founded in 8th century.
The Fox cult, with over 40,000 shrines across Japan, has become associated with financial success, and the hillside behind the shrine is lined with thousands of vermilion Torii gates donated by business people.
Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum
Built in 1909. The Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum introduces you to Fushimi's rich History of sake brewing with a valuable collection of traditional brewing tools.
Sake tasting will take place at the end of the tour.
Histrical Building in the Area
There are many interesting buildings from 19th century and later periods near the Sake Museum.
Tour ends at JR Kyoto Station.
